Meet Sami

I fell in love with athletics from a young age and participated in Softball, Soccer and CrossFit.  I was lucky to have strong fitness role models in my early life, but took for granted the impact they had on me.  While studying Public Health at the University of Arizona,  I realized that no one was going to fight for my health and fitness.  I learned an important life lesson: My Health and Fitness are MY responsibility.   I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health in 2018, and during that journey I had discovered that my passion was helping others find the same life lesson I found.  I began studying to be a Physical Therapist Assistant and achieved that goal in 2021.  In this career, I have been able to help patients rehabilitate their body and learn the importance of “Owning their Health.” While working as a PTA, I also studied to become a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA).  This helps further my knowledge in the health and fitness field and allows me to better achieve my goal of making a meaningful impact on others’ health and fitness. Saltee Fitness was created so that I can apply my unique combination of knowledge and experience to help others.

Meet Saltee Fitness

Saltee Fitness was born out of my passion for fitness and my love for the ocean. Inspired by a quote from Isak Dinesen, “The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears, or the sea”, Getting Saltee means making active choices to better yourself and invest in your health.  Saltee Fitness encourages putting in the hard work, and accepting the sweat and sometimes tears that come with it. This is the “cure.” A common goal for a Personal Trainer might be, “To help clients achieve their fitness goals”.  However, this doesn’t consider HOW your goals will be achieved.  Often a “Custom” fitness program is assigned without considering individual client’s unique perspective, happiness, schedule, lifestyle, or preferences. When you as a client conform to the trainer, you are likely to experience internal hesitancy or resistance and find yourself fighting for motivation for your own Health and Fitness.  We call this “Friction”.   The Saltee Fitness approach is to first understand you, the client, as a person and accommodate your preferences to form a fitness program that makes you excited to Get Saltee with me.   So instead of “helping clients achieve their fitness goals,” the Saltee Fitness Mission Statement is: “Help clients minimize the friction experienced while achieving their fitness goals.“

Meet your goals

So what are your goals?  Whether to lose weight, get stronger, improve your endurance, train for a difficult hike, or get back on the surf board, Saltee Fitness will help you get there on your own terms. Whether you prefer to Get Saltee on the beach, at the park, in the gym, or in the comfort of your own home, Saltee Fitness will make it happen for you.  If you want multiple in-person sessions a week, to train virtually, or additional at-home work outs, Saltee Fitness will make it happen for you.  Not a fan of traditional training methods?  Saltee Fitness will find a way to reduce the friction every step of the way. To get started, every new client will participate in a Fitness Consultation to help us better understand each other. Then together we will develop a program to meet your goals in a format that excites you.
